How We Prepare Our Students
how we prepare our students

Global Opportunities places students at the forefront of their study away experiences. Through walk-in advising, meetings with peer advisors, application reviews with professional staff, and pre-departure orientations, Global Opportunities works alongside students preparing them for what they can expect during their time away. For more information on this student-focused process, visit our How to Apply for a Global Opportunities Program page.

Meeting with the Klein GO Office
The Global Opportunities office is located in Annenberg Hall Room 07 (downstairs, next to the Klein Academic Advising Offices). We hold drop-in advising hours from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday thru Friday and we encourage students to walk-in for more general information about our programs, learn more about scholarships, and our Peer Advisors can answer general questions students may have about studying abroad or away. Our Peer Advisors are students that have gone on a Klein GO program and can answer questions about choosing a program, budgeting, and how to get started with the application process.

Students can also schedule a one-on-one meeting with a Klein GO staff member for a more individualized, pre-planned meeting to discuss their interests and goals for studying away or abroad.

Application Reviews
Every student participating on a Klein GO program is required to meet with a Klein GO professional staff member to review their program application. Students can book this appointment before they have even finished their application, and this can be very helpful for students if they have questions about their application. During this appointment, we walk through your student's application and establish what they have left to complete in their process. We also review the enrollment process (deposits, final paperwork, etc.) and their program's logistics as they are listed on each program page.

To prepare for this session, we encourage students to come with their questions written down so we can be sure to answer them in a timely fashion.

Pre-Departure Orientation
All students participating on a Klein GO program are required to attend their program's Pre-Departure Orientation. These fun and informative sessions are designed to best prepare students for their program. Klein GO staff and peer advisors will review academic requirements, health and safety, expectations around student conduct and TU policies, preparing for culture shock, finances and budgeting, diversity abroad, and meeting other program participants.

Pre-Departure Orientation is a student-only event, however student's will receive a post-orientation email from the GO office outlining what was covered and provide any attachments we may have distributed (packing lists, insurance information, etc). Families should reach out to their students for any information or materials shared during the orientation.

If you have any questions about the information presented on this page, feel free to email us at kleingo@temple.edu or call (215) 204-2354.
